Zone 4 DE Instructor Award
Congratulations to Alex Soduk from Eastern Buckeye Region, winner of the Toyo Tires® Drivers Education Zone Instructor Award for 2013. As part of the inaugural year of sponsorship of the PCA DE Program, Toyo Tires® is awarding a set of tires to one of our instructors in each of twelve Zones as recognition of their efforts to further this valuable segment of PCA. Each region in Zone 4 nominated an instructor to be entered into a drawing at PCA National Headquarters, and Alex’ name was drawn as this year’s winner.
Alex, having been around PCA events and the track throughout his childhood, could not wait to participate in his first driver’s education event in 1999 at the ripe age of 18. That April ARPCA event was the start to a very exciting hobby that he has been actively involved with since. As a student, he always used his dad’s black 944 and loved the thrill of catching and passing cars that should have been much faster. After becoming an instructor in 2002, he moved up to a red 944 turbo and began traveling to more tracks throughout the zone with both PCA and NASA. In 2006 he built his current track car, the white #6 Spec Miata, and began racing in addition to instructing and Autocrossing with EBR and the IRAC series. He completed the PCA National Instructor training in 2005 and mainly runs with EBR, NOR, and MOR PCA regions and NASA Great Lakes. He has held the positions of president, membership chairman, chief driving instructor, webmaster and autocross timing chairman with the Eastern Buckeye Region. His wife, Meredith, and Alex enjoy social events, rallies and driving tours together and have made many great friends through the Club. They both love getting new members involved in the club and try to get them all to try a driver’s education event.
Congratulations again to Alex and many thanks to all of our hard-working DE instructors throughout Zone 4- we have an excellent program because of your dedication.
Ron Carr- Zone 4 Representative (2010-2013)
